The silane makes the difference

Bindzil^® SM products is a family of modified colloidal silicas that provide both outstanding stability but also high performance in specialty applications.

The stability of silica sols is normally based on ionic basis - either normally sodium based.  This ionic stabilization can create some issues in some applications, but the silane modification creates a sterically stabile sol.

Not only does the silane modification provide enhanced stability, the choice of the silane can also provide some reactivity in some applications.  This reactivity can enhance the incorporation into coatings, resins, plastics, and other applications.

The first product in the Bindzil^® SM line is Bindzil^® CC.  While the "CC" originally stood for "clear coat", there are many non-"clear coating" applications that have been identified.  Please click the links below for more information about Bindzil^® CC:
